A beautiful wooden stock on a rifle is a joy to look at and touch. Over time a fine old wood stock only gets more amazing. However, if left in a humid environment or stored incorrectly, a wooden stock can quickly fade, crack, dent, break, or de-laminate.
Why refurbish an old gun? A cracked or faded stock can drop the value of a firearm by a great deal. If you are selling a gun, having a stock refinished can get you many times more in a sale. A damaged stock can also be very dangerous for the shooter and bystanders .
If you have a firearm that you love, but the stock is cracked or just plain boring, we also custom fit new stocks to older firearms. Various grades of walnut are readily available as well as other types of wood including maple and birch.
Metal bluing is very much a science and an art. Bluing is not only aesthetically pleasing but it also helps protect your metal parts from rusting. It is one of the oldest types of metal preservation for firearms. We can re-blue your entire gun or just some parts that need a touch up. It is best to not try to remove rust prior to bringing in your gun to be re-blued. Just bring it in as is and let our gunsmith have a look before proceeding.
This chemical process takes time and wait times may vary based on work load. Give us a call and we can let you know what the turn around time is. We're sure that once the firearm is back in your hands you'll agree it was worth the wait!
