The Generation 2 AK Lightning Bolt&trade shares all the features of its 2008 predecessor with the retention of the right side charging handle. This will allow ambidextrous use and allow safeties that have a bolt hold open notch to be used with our product.

Thanks again, Daniel Huynh Anthony, I had looked at many AK left side handle charging systems, this was the truest and simplest form. Mikhail Kalashnikov couldn't have done it better. Anything fancier would just be another part to jam at the wrong time. Not to mention it keeps the profile and function of the AK unchanged. My reload time was about 5 seconds with sight reacquisition. Adding the Lighting bolt brought it down to a brisk 3 seconds, with no serious practice. Never letting go of the grip makes all the difference in the sight reacquisition. Anyone under fire understands how important 2 seconds are. This modification was worth the trouble alone for the tough ceramic coating... I tried to scratch the inside of the top cover with my knife, I gave up after 1 minute and had to go re-sharpen my knife...took the point off... -David Shepard |
