Disassemble Clean, Oil, and Assemble.
Sounds pretty simple but this service is much more than that. During the disassembly phase if we notice any worn or broken parts we alert you so you can be safe and make a decision on how you want to proceed. We clean the firearm and bring it back to full working condition or diagnose any additional repairs that may be needed. We are careful to use only recommended cleaning agents to avoid damaging your firearm. We then lubricate with the finest oil and grease that is recommended for that firearm. Reassembly of the gun provides one final check to make sure your investment is protected.
How often should a DCOA be done?
If your firearm is going to be stored for more than a year then it is a good idea to do a thorough DCOA. If your firearm has been exposed to moisture or if you go hunting in an area with salt in the air ( Think Alaska or waterfowl hunting in coastal areas) then it should be DCOA'd immediately after use. Also, certain ammunition can be highly corrosive and can ruin a firearm very quickly if it is stored without cleaning and lubricating correctly.
If you are getting ready to sell a firearm then it is time to get a DCOA and keep the receipt to show the person purchasing that it is in good working condition. A regular DCOA can increase the value of your firearm over time. If your firearm is older and is gaining in value, then the investment in a yearly DCOA is a no brainer.
Turn around time could be a couple of days or a couple of weeks, and can vary depending on how many firearms are in front of yours as well as time of year and various other factors. We often get swamped before and after hunting seasons, so it’s a good idea to bring it in sooner than you think you will be in need of it.
